From the hill town of Erice to the salt pans and the Egadi islands: one province with very different landscapes close together. Saying «Trapani» is not enough, you have to choose which of these worlds.
The feel of the place
The province of Trapani packs different landscapes into little space: the seaside city, the hilltop town of Erice, the salt pans and the Stagnone lagoon towards Marsala, the Egadi islands offshore. Erice is stone and lanes hanging over the coast; the salt pans are low light, water and windmills; the islands are sea and journey.
These are three different weddings with different rhythms and constraints. It helps to decide which image feels most like you before looking for a space.

Which ceremony to imagine
The kind of ceremony follows the place. In Erice spaces are intimate and access has limits; in the salt pans and on the coast spaces are open and exposed to wind; on the islands weddings are necessarily smaller, because every person arrives by sea. A civil ceremony depends on the competent municipality, and each municipality has its own rules; a religious one needs the parish; a symbolic one has no legal value and depends on whoever manages the space.
Photos of churches, courtyards and salt pans do not prove availability: for the salt pans and for the island of Mozia, for example, first identify the manager and ask what is allowed for ceremonies and professional photography.
Seasons and light
In Erice, up on the hill, wind and cloud can take away the view you chose: no season guarantees it. In the salt pans the evening light is the main draw, but it depends on season, sky and the exact spot; do not hang the whole schedule on a sunset. On the islands rough seas can slow down or change the crossings.
We give no temperatures and no absolute best period: it depends on the day you imagine. To think about timing, our guide «Quando sposarsi in Sicilia» (Italian) is a good starting point.
Getting there and moving around
The Trapani area has two reference airports, Trapani-Birgi and Palermo: check the connections from your city for your dates. Erice can also be reached by cable car from the Trapani side, but timetables and notices are published by the operator and can change: do not build the plan on a timetable seen months earlier, and have an alternative for guests and suppliers.
The Egadi islands can only be reached by sea; check the connections close to the date, and remember that guests, luggage and suppliers have different needs. Mozia, in the Stagnone, is reached by boat. For every leg, ask for a door-to-door transfer plan with margin for delays.
What to ask before you choose
- Which operator and which conditions apply to the exact space you are interested in?
- How do guests with reduced mobility and suppliers with equipment get there?
- If a cable car or a sea crossing is involved, what is the alternative when it is not running?
- Where do welcome drinks, ceremony and dinner happen if the weather changes, and who decides?
- Are permits needed for filming, drones or set-up?
- How many beds are really available, and where do the other guests stay?
- How much margin is there between ceremony and dinner for transfers and photos?
